Junior Leadership 2009
Aware that the early development of leadership skills is essential to improve the quality of life for all City of Oxford and Lafayette County residents, the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce began this program ten years ago. Through Junior Leadership, an attempt is made to identify young leaders in the Oxford High School and Lafayette High School, motivate them and assist them in sharpening their leadership skills, in the hopes that they will exert a strong positive influence on the future of Oxford
and Lafayette County.
The participants will work together in a program that combines group study sessions and an actual community project that requires the use and development of leadership skills. Training sessions include leadership skills, team building, goal setting, community awareness, volunteerism and communication skills among other topics.
Leadership Lafayette 2009
On behalf of the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce, we
would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in Leadership Lafayette. The Leadership Lafayette program is a series of training sessions and activities, designed for emerging community leaders.
It is designed to assure the continuity of leadership in Lafayette-Oxford-
University community and assist already established community leaders, who seek more effective ways to contribute to the community.
The objectives of the program include identifying potential community leaders, developing individual leadership potential, acquiring knowledge about community and current issues in Lafayette County, creating dialogue and rapport among participants and current leaders, and promoting a sense of "community" through shared efforts benefiting the local community.
The continued success of our community depends on leaders equipped with the skills necessary to effectively meet the challenges of our future. We feel that Leadership Lafayette fulfills the mission of preparing these future leaders. We look forward to your participation!
